Jane Rosen’s practice focuses on privacy, security, data diligence, and technology-related issues. She counsels clients on navigating applicable privacy laws and regulations and analyzes risks associated with commercial transactions and data licensing arrangements. She also provides legal advice regarding the acquisition and use of alternate forms of data and related risk mitigation strategies. She has a strong background in transactional contexts such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, restructurings, capital markets offerings, and various commercial, licensing, and services arrangements, and she is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Prior to joining ZwillGen, Jane was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where she was a member of the Intellectual Property group and the Privacy and Cybersecurity task force. During her more than six years at Cleary, Jane counseled companies in privacy, technology, and intellectual property issues arising in transactional contexts, particularly transactions involving the acquisition of or investment in intellectual property, data, and various technologies. Her experience included drafting and negotiating the intellectual property, privacy, and cyber-related aspects of complex M&A deals and other significant commercial transactions, negotiating intellectual property and technology licenses, and providing advice in connection with data-related transactions. She also counseled companies on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), including analyzing the implications of the CCPA for certain business offerings, drafting and revising privacy policies, establishing customized compliance documents, and negotiating amendments to vendor agreements.
Jane received a law degree from Yale Law School, a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a B.A. from Duke University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Before attending law school, Jane worked in the media industry, including as CNN’s political editor and senior producer for a prime-time news program.
