Bio

Kady Hammer graduated early from American University’s Washington College of Law (WCL) in December 2022 where she focused her coursework on all things technology including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and programming, internet governance, emerging technologies, privacy, and national security. While in law school, she was a member of the 2022 Atlantic Council’s Cyber 9/12 Competition champion team. Kady also served as a Research Assistant and Student Fellow at WCL’s Technology, Law & Security program.

During law school as an evening student, Kady worked full time at Latham & Watkins. Her most recent role was as a Business Development Senior Specialist. Formerly, Kady was an Attorney Support Coordinator covering both the US and global offices, and she also was an assistant to several partners including Kathryn Ruemmler.

Prior to law school, Kady received an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna, Italy, and Washington, DC focusing on international economics, and international law and organizations. During SAIS, she was an Intern at the State Department in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs. Kady was also a student researcher and was a part of the team that published a report titled, “They Protect the Forests. Who Protects Them? The Intersection of Conservation, Development, and Human Rights of Forest Defenders.” Prior to graduate school, Kady triple majored, receiving her B.A. in International Relations, Political Science, and Public Administration from California State University, Chico while working full time at a local law firm.

Outside of work, Kady is a passionate volunteer who currently volunteers with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue as an Adoption Coordinator, foster, and in many other capacities. She has also held numerous other volunteer positions including ReAhead, a reading-based mentoring program for elementary students, We the Action, an elections protections hotline, Jubilee Jobs, a community job preparation and placement organization, and the Alexandria Elections Office. In her free time, Kady enjoys reading, baking and cooking, gardening, and painting.
