Everett counsels clients on a range of product development, transactional, privacy, and data security issues involving state, federal, and international data protection laws and frameworks. His clients include entrepreneurs, cloud computing companies, and multinational corporations.
As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E, CIPP/G) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Everett’s work has involved counseling clients on compliance with federal and state privacy and data security laws, including CCPA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, and PIPEDA, advising clients on international law and cross-border transfers, including the GDPR and Privacy Shield, and helping clients draft Terms of Service and Privacy Policies. In addition to his privacy and data security work, Everett also assists clients with transactional matters including negotiating master services agreements and advising on data use in mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining ZwillGen, Everett was an Associate at Hanson Bridgett LLP in the firm’s Privacy, Data Security, and Information Governance Practice. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he teaches information privacy law and helps coach the law school’s moot court teams.
