Maddie’s practice focuses on a variety of legal matters that affect technology and Internet-based companies.

As a litigator, Maddie specializes in defending companies in privacy class actions and has represented clients in lawsuits brought under numerous federal and state statutes, including the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) and wiretap laws. She routinely advises clients on how to respond to law enforcement requests and third-party subpoenas.

Maddie works closely with clients on automatic renewal and continuing subscription offerings, helping them navigate the patchwork of state, federal, and international laws and regulations. She also advises clients on applicable federal and state privacy, consumer protection, and advertising laws.

Maddie previously served as a Fellow at ZwillGen. Prior to joining the firm, Maddie worked as a legal fellow with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and as a law clerk in the United States Court of Federal Claims Office of Special Masters. She graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Law. During law school, Maddie was an Articles Editor on the Washington Law Review, a member of the Vis Moot International Commercial Arbitration Team, and a member of the Moot Court Honor Board. She participated in the Tech Law & Public Policy Clinic and worked as a research assistant to Professor Ryan Calo in the UW Tech Policy Lab. Her work with Professor Calo is published in the U.C.L.A. Law Review. She interned for the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy & Technology Project and the ACLU of Washington.
