Bio

Alexei Klestoff specializes in technology and Internet law, with a particular focus on privacy, intellectual property, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and platform liability issues. His experience practicing in law firms and as in-house counsel (both full time and as a secondee) equips him with a unique perspective, enabling him to translate complex legal risks and strategies into actionable legal advice.

Alexei’s approach is shaped by the understanding that legal decisions are fundamentally business decisions. He excels in navigating complex and ambiguous legal questions and is committed to providing common-sense, practical advice that aligns with his clients’ business objectives. His ability to blend legal expertise with business acumen positions him as a trusted advisor and valued partner to clients navigating the intricate intersections of technology, law, and business.

Alexei advises on a wide variety of state, federal, and international legal frameworks, including the CCPA, GDPR, Brazil’s LGPD, CDA 230, DMCA, Section 5 of the FTC Act, and the EU’s AI Act and Digital Services Act.

Alexei previously served as the Director of Consumer Protection at Walmart Global eCommerce, where he advised the company on mitigating consumer protection and privacy risk across all areas of the business. He has broadened his in-house experience through numerous secondments while at ZwillGen, providing privacy, product, and AI/ML counseling for startups and Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to ZwillGen, Alexei was a litigator at Morrison & Foerster, where he represented clients in consumer class action, intellectual property, and general commercial disputes.

In his spare time, he enjoys participating in team-based endurance events, surfing, and exploring the Bay Area’s lesser-known hiking trails.
