ZwillGen Welcomes FTC Senior Staff Attorney Kandi Parsons and Data Security Attorney Marci Rozen

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 31, 2015 – ZwillGen PLLC has added two new attorneys to its Washington, D.C. office. Kandi Parsons, former Senior Staff Attorney at the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) in the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, has joined the firm today and Marci Rozen, former associate in the Privacy, Data Security, and Information Law Group of Sidley Austin LLP joined the firm on August 11, 2015.

“We are pleased with the incredibly high level of talent that ZwillGen continues to attract and retain,” said Marc Zwillinger, ZwillGen’s Founder and Managing Member. “It is our goal to increase our depth of experience so that we can best meet our client’s needs. Kandi’s background with the FTC and hands-on experience with COPPA supplements our existing resources and will benefit clients working on compliance issues in the FTC space. Likewise, Marci’s prior work on privacy, cybersecurity, and breach response issues will help clients seeking to better protect themselves from the multitude of cybersecurity threats.”

Kandi Parsons joins ZwillGen after having spent eight years as a Senior Staff Attorney in the FTC’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection. Kandi’s work at the FTC focused on children and student privacy, data security, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Safeguard and Privacy Rules. While at the FTC, Kandi helped implement the revised 2013 COPPA rule and helped create staff FAQs related to assessing COPPA compliance. Additionally, Kandi served on detail for six months to the United States Senate, Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation where she worked on various consumer protection issues. Kandi received her B.A. from Columbia University and her JD from the Georgetown University Law Center. “After having spent many years working at the FTC, I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to ZwillGen and their clients,” said Kandi Parsons. “I’m excited to be a part of ZwillGen, which has developed a reputation for excellence in this area in such a short time.”

Marci Rozen, a former associate in the Washington, D.C. Sidley Austin office, has counseled clients on issues involving privacy, cybersecurity, and information law. Marci brings experience helping companies evaluate and develop corporate privacy and information security programs and has assisted clients on all levels of the data breach remediation process. When asked about the move, Marci said “Working at a boutique firm that focuses solely on the Internet’s legal landscape is an incredible opportunity. To top it all off, ZwillGen’s fun client list and workplace culture are both something I’m delighted to be a part of.”
