Jey Kumarasamy is a Legal Director in ZwillGen’s AI Division, where he helps leading technology companies navigate complex issues at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence. With a background in computer science and software engineering, Jey brings a deeply technical lens to his legal work.

He leads technical assessments of advanced AI systems—including both generative and predictive models—from custom deployments to frontier foundation LLMs. His assessments often involve bespoke benchmarking, automated evaluations, red teaming, and bias audits, designed to rigorously evaluate system behavior and compliance risks. In addition, he leads complex investigations that combine cutting-edge technical methods with nuanced legal analysis, helping companies address high-stakes issues involving AI systems.

Jey also advises clients on emerging AI laws and governance standards. His counsel blends practical legal strategy with a clear understanding of technical best practices, system limitations, and novel approaches to responsible AI development.

For this reason, clients regularly embed Jey within their product and engineering teams to support fast-moving initiatives and time-sensitive launches. In these roles, he serves as a bridge between legal and technical stakeholders, translating regulatory requirements into practical engineering guidance and clarifying technical constraints for legal and compliance teams. This integrated approach allows clients to move quickly while maintaining alignment across product, policy, and risk functions.

Before joining ZwillGen, Jey was a Senior Associate at Luminos.Law, where he advised clients on AI governance, red teaming, and model audits. He also previously practiced corporate and commercial law in Toronto, Canada, with a focus on technology transactions.
