Bio

Jamie Elbert advises companies on information security, cybersecurity, and privacy issues, with a focus on  data security incident response and regulatory compliance. She has helped organizations across sectors navigate the full lifecycle of security incidents, from initial containment and forensic investigations to consumer notification and regulatory reporting. Jamie’s incident response experience includes ransomware, business email compromises, network intrusions, insider threats, thefts, and accidental disclosures. She regularly coordinates with law enforcement and helps clients develop public communications strategies.

Jamie has handled breach-related inquiries from a range of regulators, including state Attorneys General, state health and insurance regulators, and U.S. Health & Human Services, Office for Civil Rights. Jamie also supports clients with incident preparedness efforts, including drafting incident response plans and conducting tabletop exercises to test and strengthen organizational response capabilities.

In addition to her core work in incident response, Jamie also brings experience handling regulatory investigations and compliance matters that intersect with cybersecurity and privacy. She has conducted HIPAA risk assessments and compliance audits in response to inquiries from U.S. Health & Human Services, Office for Civil Rights, guided clients through investigations by state Attorneys General, and responded to DOJ-issued subpoenas in matters involving suspected nation-state actors. Her experience gives her a practical, regulator-facing perspective on managing data security and breach-related risk.

Prior to joining ZwillGen, Jamie was an associate on the Cyber Team at Constangy Brooks Smith & Prophete LLP, where she counseled business regarding their response to cybersecurity incidents. Her clients included entities in a broad variety of industries, including government contractors, telecommunications providers, and critical infrastructure entities.
