Bio

Hannah Schaller represents clients in a range of legal matters related to digital technology, including data privacy and security, e-commerce, and advertising matters. She strives to understand clients’ products, priorities, and goals in order to provide strategic, actionable advice.

Hannah counsels both emerging and established companies on compliance with laws such as CCPA, GDPR, BIPA, COPPA, HIPAA, and Section 5 of the FTC Act. Her areas of experience include international data protection and cross-border transfers, educational and children’s privacy, alternative data, health privacy, biometrics, and user-generated content. Hannah works closely with clients to advise on implementation and risk mitigation, create internal policies and procedures, and draft consumer-facing privacy policies and terms of service.

In addition, Hannah helps draft and negotiate commercial contracts. She has particular experience assisting with agreements for data transfers, social media and influencer marketing, and alternative data acquisition. She conducts diligence of data vendors and assists clients in mitigating the risks associated with various types of data.

Hannah received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served on the managing board of the Virginia Journal of International Law. During law school, Hannah also served as an intern at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce, where she analyzed developments in privacy and telecommunications law, and at the Future of Privacy Forum, where she covered health privacy issues.
