ZwillGen Announces New Fellowship and Internship in Memory of Hannah Schaller

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 11, 2025 – ZwillGen announced today the creation of the Hannah Schaller Memorial Skylark Fellowship, a new position within the firm’s post-graduate Fellowship Program. This role honors the life and legacy of Hannah Schaller, a cherished colleague, former fellow, and rising star in the privacy legal community who died in March of this year and continues to inspire the firm.

The Skylark Fellowship is designed for a recent law school graduate with a demonstrated passion for privacy, technology law, and civic engagement. Alongside the firm’s robust legal training, the Skylark Fellow will lead and support ZwillGen’s ongoing efforts to foster community, mentorship, and leadership within the privacy and tech policy space.

“This Fellowship is our way of celebrating Hannah’s impact and carrying forward the values she exemplified every day,” said ZwillGen Founder and Managing Member Marc Zwillinger. “Aside from being a joy to be around and an authentic, kind-hearted teammate, Hannah was deeply committed to mentorship and the ethical advancement of privacy law. We are proud to support future leaders who will continue to elevate the privacy profession with the same dedication and authenticity Hannah embodied.”

In addition to ZwillGen’s core legal work, the Skylark Fellow will represent the firm at key industry events, engage with policy organizations, and mentor law students navigating their early careers in privacy. The fellow will also support internal firm initiatives, planning, and community-building efforts, and will be encouraged to take an active role in privacy-focused events and institutions, including the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF), IAPP, and other leading industry groups.

The Skylark Fellowship application is by invitation only and will be extended to a select group of candidates identified through the firm’s ongoing Fellowship selection process. Additional materials and details will be shared with those invited.

To further commemorate Hannah, ZwillGen is also announcing the Hannah Schaller Memorial Internship, to be hosted at FPF and conducted under two cycles: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. This public interest internship will provide law students with hands-on experience at the intersection of privacy, emerging technology, and evolving commercial business practices, creating a valuable pipeline for talent and fostering early engagement with pressing challenges and innovations shaping the AI and data protection landscape. The candidate selected for the Hannah Schaller Memorial Internship will work directly with and provide support to FPF’s policy staff working on these issue areas in their Washington, D.C. office. Each semester will run for approximately 14 weeks and students will conduct 20 hours of work per week.

For friend or clients of ZwillGen who want to contribute to the FPF Internship in Hannah’s name, all contributions are tax-deductible and can be made at the following link to help keep funding this program.
