ZwillGen PLLC

A boutique law firm specializing in legal issues that arise from doing business on the internet

Subpoena/Law Enforcement Compliance

ZwillGen’s founding partners are former federal cybercrime prosecutors who helped train federal and state prosecutors and agents on the vagaries of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), the federal statute that defines the privacy rights of customers and subscribers of ISPs, Internet portals, web mail providers, wireless phone providers, social networking sites, search engines, colleges, online games, and any other entity that allows users to send, receive or store electronic content.  For the last decade our attorneys have advised a number of the world’s most prominent Internet providers on their rights and responsibilities in responding to requests for subscriber information by law enforcement, criminal defendants and civil litigants.   That work includes everything from litigating the most sensitive and difficult legal issues against government agencies, to drafting law enforcement and civil legal process compliance guides, to creating and teaching training programs for subpoena compliance staff.

We are generally recognized as leading experts in the area, and are confident we have litigated as many or more cases involving ECPA than any firm in the country.  Over the years, our clients in this space have included Yahoo!, MySpace, Cablevision, Facebook, Cricket, AOL, Blizzard Entertainment, DIRECTV, Alltel, Hughes Network, Meebo, and The U.S.I.S.P. Association.
